Our Faculty Member Umut Şahin's Project Receives Support from TÜBİTAK-France Bilateral Cooperation Program

Umut Şahin
Associate Professor Umut Şahin, a faculty member at Sabancı University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, has been awarded funding for his project under the TÜBİTAK 2509 Bilateral Cooperation Program (Bosphorus) with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2025 call for proposals.

The research, titled " From Defense to Offense: Exploring Cas9's Host-Mediated SUMOylation and Bacterial Effector-Like Functions During Infection," of which our faculty member Associate Professor Umut Şahin is the principal investigator in Türkiye, will be conducted in France under the leadership of Dr. David Ribet from INSERM.

Within the scope of the project, Şahin and Ribet will investigate the role of post-translational modifications of CRISPR/Cas9 in the context of host-pathogen interactions.

The project is one of eight projects selected for funding under the TÜBİTAK 2509 Bilateral Cooperation Program (Bosphorus) with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the year 2025 call.
